There are several reasons behind the name of our weekly Saturday Worship Service of Illumination. The term lantern is used to describe many types of portable lighting, but lanterns originated as a protective enclosure for a light source – usually a candle – from being extinguished by the gusty wind. Lantern also magnifies the light. This service will help worshippers to be conscious of the importance of protecting the light that we carry inside of our souls from gusty winds of life. Lanterns may also be used for signaling. Our Saturday service will serve as a beacon of light for our community inviting people from different religious and cultural backgrounds to worship together. Languages and religion should not divide people but bring them together in a new way through education and fellowship with people from other cultures. Let’s bring and share the light of God with love, mutual respect, and care for all people.
