A Small Boy

A small boy sat in church one Sunday morning, with his mother on one side, his father on the other, and lying quietly on his mother’s lap, was his new baby sister.  As the service progressed, the wooden pew became harder and harder; and the sermon seemed to go on forever, or at least it seemed forever to his little mind.  He began to fidget and wiggle and whine; until finally his mother looked down at him and said, “Young man, you had better sit still or else.”  In an instant those same eyes went from annoyance to eyes that said, “But if you don’t, I love you anyway.”  At that moment the small boy learned about a mother’s unconditional love, a love that comes from God.  At Francis Street First United Methodist Church at 12th and Francis, St. Joseph, Missouri, we believe God’s love is greater than even we can know.  I’m Mike Perry, one of the leaders there, and we invite you to join us this Sunday at 8:45 & 10:45 A.M. as we explore the mystery of God’s unconditional love.
